From Nichola Groom of Reuters:
As it turns out, Fey would rather not see Palin become a regular character on “SNL.”
“I want to be done playing this lady November 5th,” Fey said when asked backstage about how she feels about the election. “So, if anyone can help me be done playing her on November 5th…”
The U.S. presidential election is November 4th.
Fey added that Palin “seems like a perfectly nice lady,” but that she had been reluctant at first to admit that they look alike.
“I was very resistant to acknowledge that there was a resemblance,” Fey said. “Then my kid saw Sarah Palin on TV and said ‘That’s Mommy.’”
In light of Chevy Chase wanting to “decimate” Sarah Palin and Maureen Dowd’s endless and incoherent rants, it is heartening to see that a liberal can say that she doesn’t want Sarah Palin to be Vice President without throwing out jagged barbs.
On another note, to my fellow conservatives out there, I highly recommend Ms. Fey’s show, 30 Rock. It is one of the most entertaining comedies out there and even though it has a bunch of lefty writers, it is the first lefty show that approaches right wing humor. Right wing humor such as that of Rush hinges upon self-mockery. We understand our own excesses and 30 Rock exposes the excesses of the left and the incongruities of their beliefs. For exxample, in the episode “Greenzo,” David Schwimmer plays a global warming mascot whose mouth has run off the rails. Tina Fey’s Liz Lemon tells him that she doesn’t want to hear the political rantings of some actor.
