Dems, Paulson and the McCain gambit

I would post some links, but there are far too many for me to do so under the cover of night.  As we all know, there is a 700,000,000,000 dollar bailout that Secretary Paulson and the administration are backing.  The dems have stepped aside to allow the administration to do what they want at this time. If this bill does not go through, interest rates go up and the debt will fall on taxpayer shoulders through private means as well as public. If the bill goes through, we re socialists and we are supporting failed business on the backs of the taxpayers. By stepping aside, the democrats are able to squarely lay the responsibility for this thing on Bush. Newt and other real conservatives have come out against this. The problem of course is that we need a solution, an immediate solution.

This bill will be going to the House and to the Senate.  Dodd and Reid in the Senate have both indicated that the bill will not go through with ony Democrat votes.  They want Republicans on board to take the blame also.  Initially I though that we can throw a couple of our sacrificial lambs on the pyre.  No one will vote Lindsay Graham or Susan Collins out if they vote for this turd.  Now it appears as if Reid will only pass the bill if McCain is on board. They do not want to pass this bill andd have McCain running against the unpopular Bush administration and the more unpopular Democratic congress.  There are enough Democrat votes to pass this with no Republicans but it would be a huge risk for them.

Secretary Paulson came out saying “don’t worry bout McCain.”

This looks like it will be a game of chicken and there will be no winners on this.
